Springfield,Oregon.. June 2 through June 11, 2011!
This is not my first mission trip by far, but this is the mission trip that I was most nervous about. My mom and dad didn't come with me, and it's the longest I've ever been away from home with out them and also the farthest I've ever been away from home ever. The group I'm with is called Builders for Christ. What e do is go around the country and build worship centers for churches who can't afford hired help. We have all kinds of people with us. But we all have one thing in common.. We are all on fire for the Lord and we are all here for Him, not for personal gain or pleasure. We have people from about 8 different churches.. My dad is the pastor at Richburg, where most of us are from. Harold and Maxine Hartfield, Warren and Faye Atkins, Daryl and Betty Ellis, Reggie Ford and his grandson Orrin Ford, Leslie Hill, and I are from Richburg Baptist.. Jeremy and Cassie Williamson and JT, Danny Williamson are from Temple Baptist Church.. Charles Harrington is from Crosspoint Baptist, Bernell and Julia Vercher go to Parkview Baptist, Charles and Vera Jornes, Francis Herrin and his brother Tommy Herrin go to Calvery Baptist.. Arthur Herin goes to Carterville Baptist.. Will Lambert goes to Central Baptist.. Al Harrington, Guy Aycock, and Heath Carter go to First Baptist Lumberton.. James Thompsom goes to Beaumont Baptist.. All 30ish of us are from all over Hattiesburg, we are all in Oregon, and we are all here for one reason.. Its maxing what God has done in just this week and two days! Our team is great! Our guys work hard and they are serious about what they do. They have pretty much finished hanging all of the Sheetrock in the whole building and are helping the next team prepare to start work. Two of our guys took me up in the sissor lift, Mr. Will and Heath. It was so much fun!! This was my first time ever to fly and the guys that sat next to me made fun of me:( lol but it's ok, because I made it out alive and that's all that matters!! We have had two devotions every day, one after lunch and one after dinner.. They have all been awesome!!! I have met some men and a woman that are really on fire for God, and I have become really close to them. It has amazed me how quickly and efficiently our guys have worked!!!! I have made new friends, and become closer to people I already knew. In all, there is not one bad thing I could think of to say about this trip!! I really hope nd pray that God allows me to come again next year!
